A summery of House actions on May 9th….
SB592 The Bradley Haas Bill passed unanimously on a voice vote renaming part of
Rt 127 as Officer Bradley Haas memorial highway.
SB589 allows wastewater discharge surcharges and the collection of information between municipalities. Passed by voice vote.
SB576 reporting death of a registered voter(s) by executors within 30 days to the town or city clerk passed 182-180
SB574 the appointment of a temporary agent for a minor child or incapacitated person and floor amendment passed 352-7. And attaching HB1853h / HB185 relative to parental rights and responsibilities in shared parenting arrangements.
SB537 dealing with absentee ballots use with enhanced restrictions and protections was voted on several times and finally was indefinitely postponed 187 to 179. An
interesting dividing line arose as Democrats were for counting ballots before and after Election Day while Republicans were for the one Election Day.
SB532 Requiring all municipalities and school governing bodies to post within 30 days the amount of funds received by the state re vehicles purchased. Passing by voice.
SB481 establishing Juneteenth as a national holiday was killed 194 -154
SB462 raising the caps for wrongful death claims passed 191 to 174.
SB459 dealing with children in high conflict family court cases passed 270 – 94.
SB432 advanced deposit wagering re pool betting on horse racing allows the Lottery Commission to adopt licensing and regulation of such wagers. Failed 296-60
SB426 transporting of marijuana in a motor vehicle, having the same restriction as
alcohol passed 194-160
SB422 changing language in parentage and birth records – from “mother” to “birth parent” was indefinitely posponed187-178
SB387 creating a pilot program to give free state parks passes to recovery centers, was tabled, 187-168
SB383 created additional adjustments to local tax caps based on inflation and
population changes passed after amended 184 to 177.
SB349 having the Wellness and Primary Prevention Council report on a home visiting
program for newborns and their families. A floor amendment (passing 184-181) made it a legislative study committee instead; and passed, 338-28.
SB185 creating a study committee to examine barriers to discharge for patients in
acute care hospitals, was debated and killed, 188-171
Here is something novel… SB413 dealing with PFAS contamination was amended
(184- 183) to include HB1115 re landlords ability to terminate a lease and
passed 188 -178.
